Max haste in terms of time (not percentage)?
I've read through many threads on the issue of max haste and the general concensus seems to be that max haste is 100% from level 60 up. But, I think I remember reading somewhere that the the fastest a weapon can actually swing is once a second, i.e. a delay of 10.
So if you have a weapon with a delay of say 16, and you are max hasted, in theory your weapon delay should be 8. Is this also true in practice or is it capped at 10? |

as far as i know there is no minimum delay cap. someone did a test (on monk boards i think?) with Moss Covered Twig, which is 3/10, and putting on and removing a haste item. they discovered that yes, the haste will make the twig faster than 10 delay... however most parsers wont detect that properly as EQ log timestamps are only measured in seconds... they were detecting a lot of triple and quad attacks though, and since its impossible to triple/quad with your offhand (Twig is offhand only, tester had a non swinging weapon in primary), it's acutally detecting 2 seperate swings as a triple/quad because they happened in the same second in the logs. i'm going by memory on this so im not sure exactly how accurate all that info is but it makes sense to me, at least. i tried to dig up the thread but i can't seem to find it. if anyone knows where its at or some more accurate info, please post

Norok, you remember correctly.
Laoke did the parsing, quite a while ago, and the thread is lost in the hell that is ezboard and the 20 page limit per forum it seems to have. You have the details right as well. 3/10 in offhand, non-weapon in primary (some stein or lightstone or whatever). anything more than 2 attacks per second (as the log only measures in seconds) proves that there is no delay cap, or if there is, it's lower than 10. Logs showed 3 and 4 attacks per second, proving the point. Can't be ripostes either because offhand doesn't riposte.

Ok so this is late I know, but I have had delays "parsed" as low as 9. I had that cheesy 7/17 hammer from ME and max haste (seahorse belt + wonderous rap). I used EQWatcher to parse it with a custom written script that calculated delay. It used the system clock to time, not the EQ timestamp, and treated anything within .5 secs as being one attack (to filter out double attack). I ran the test for 20 minutes with an idol (non-weapon) in my off hand. It came up with 9 delay every time.

Keep in mind that there have been weapons in the game that had an unhasted delay below 10, that is, the weapons themselves had delays lower than 10.
Anyone remember when the bixie sword blade was 2/7? That beat the hell out of any weapon or weapons combo at the time by an enormous margin. The paladin that had the bixie sword blade owned everyone at the BoTB. ![]() BTW, the bixie sword blade was a quest drop that was meant to be turned in for one of the PoS paladin quests. Whoever designed it just didn't put 2 and 2 together. |
