So many movies, so little time (well my company shutting down so time will grow significantly). Anyhow, dying to see the following this year:

Avengers
Prometheus
TDK Rises
The Hobbit (DORF POWER!)

Its going to be a Horrible year for movies btw, a lot of subpar stuff coming with a lot of rehashes(Spider-man) or pointless sequels(MIB3). While that can work, the content they've chosen is weak. Last year was far better.

That said, agreed on what was mentioned, just 4 out of the hundreds of films that get released does not a good year make :<.

Just the first four months of the year have been absolutely horrible with only The Hunger Games getting any type of traction. John Carter did a nice bellyflop though.

The new MI was great. With kids, it's tough getting out to see many things. I have to pick and choose

Cowboys and Aliens-hated the concept so didn't bother
HP-I think I saw the Deathly Hollows (it sucked imo). Is the final worth seeing?
Pirates-meh
Rise of the Apes-I wanna see this one!
Xmen-Again, want to see it.
Captain America-Want to see
Thor-better than I thought it would be
Fast Five--Any good? It's on HBO I had trouble getting into it
Battle LA-no desire to see this dreck
Source code-Not sure, the premise is not my thing
Conan-was it good? The guy had the look in the face at least from the comics but it looked like a CGI fest on the commercials-was it worth a damn?

Final Harry Potter -lame
New Transformers - lame
New Pirates (can fall under pointless sequel) very lame
Mission Impossible film that didn't completely suck - wasn't bad. You can tell they had fun filming it.
Rise of the Planet of the Apes - boring -
New X-Men - lame
Captain America - very lame
Thor -lame
Fast Five - not bad- but cheesy
Battle: LA - boring
Cowboys & Aliens - the only reason I saw this was for the chick from House. Lame
Source Code - enjoyed it. They pulled it off pretty well.
Conan - not bad. Cheesy

2012
John Carter - fell asleep during it.
Underworld - didn't do it - felt like the entire movie was an unfinished filler for the next movie.
Lockout - avoid this - boring

Avengers - if it isn't any better than Thor and Captain America, its going to be lame. I hope not.
Prometheus - Prequel to Alien? looks interesting
TDK Rises - Looking forward to it.
The Hobbit - Looking forward to it.
Amazing Spider-man - I hope its a decent reboot. The previous 3rd spiderman was lame
MiB3 - Its all up to Will Smith, because Josh Brolin just isn't doing it in the trailers.

Total Recall - supposed to be true to the original story, should be better than the Arnold cheesefest
Snow White and the Huntsman - looks interesting. But omg, that girl from the Twilight movies cannot act
Battleship - looks like a CGI fest. who knows might be ok.
GI Joe 2 - Can't possibly be any worse than the first one.
The Bourne Legacy - Looking forward to this one.
Expendables 2 - just to see the old action hero's blow shit up again.
World War Z - looks interesting, if they depart from the cheesy quasi humourous zombie B movies theme.
Skyfall - I like the Daniel Craig Bond

Well at least in this spiderman it looks like they are sticking to the comic book which is good--he never shot webs from holes in his wrist in any of the comics i had--wonder what happened to them /sigh

ya forgot about the snow white--does look interesting, and no, she cannot act ROFL. Oh ya GI Joe--at least one of my boys will LOVE that movie, so it's a must see.

C&A was ok.. nothing special.
Rise of the Planet of the Apes owned.
X-men was a bit hit & miss but decent.
Captain America was decent.
Thor was decent.
Fast Five - if you're into F&F movies, its pretty decent.
Battle LA absolutely owned. I may be in the minority on that, but i love a good War movie and it was well done.
Source Code owned.
Conan - never saw but some people liked.

My main thing was that it was a great year filled with movies with ones I had expectations for. Some delivered, some not, but it wasn't just two movies. This year its The Avengers and TDKR with Hobbit in December and I don't really hold out hope for much more. Just seems like an offyear with subpar titles with a lot of stuff going tits up so far. I can't even really get worked up over Spider-man honestly as I feel its been done.

The Cabin in the Woods btw was quite well done.

Ya I will rent cabin maybe. Are you guys doing netflix these days or anything better? Netflix has kinda sucked lately going to streaming then losing half their deals for streamed content-tempted to drop it.

Netflix in Canada isn't worth it. The content is no where near what is available in the US, due to licensing issues.

So ya.. Avengers has gone big as expected. Nothing of interest really until July :/.

Man this summer sucks for movies. You get a couple of winners in a steaming pile of dung.

I saw Avengers with my two boys this weekend and we loved it. Was a fun movie!

I would say that the "bad guys" in avenger aren't badass enough compared to the "good guys"

Agreed, was thinking about it a little today at lunch. I guess to keep the PG or PG13 rating they could not show much. Those bad guys whatever they were, should have been decimating puny humans by the dozens. IMO Black Widow or Hawkeye should have died. Oh well, at least Prometheus is an R.

Half of the movies already out or are coming soon are lacking in the "why should i pay $10 to watch this crap" department. It's as if movie producers are on a rat race to see who can flop the hardest with the largest movie budgets.

Yep, most movies I see on the small screen. There are very few worth the $, time, effort, annoyance to see in the theater. Avengers certainly was worth it as I imagine Prometheus, Batman, and the Hobbit will be as well. At least those are my four. IMO most horror, comedy, etc. can be enjoyed just as much or even more at home.
