Axe of the Barbarian Kings upgrade on test (along with the other DoN gear)
As advertised, the DoN vendors on test now have new expensive type 9 augments, and the DoN gear now has a type 9 slot. The augments go in various gear slots, and add hp/mana/end along with stats, resists, and even stuff like flowing thought, shielding, avoidance etc.
The one I found most interesting though, was a type 9 chaotic stike 1 proc. So theoretically the axe of the barbarian kings augmented with this and EB or another CS could be the only weapon in the game with 3 aggro procs. I wish I had enough shards to buy the axe and the augment and play around with it, will be very interesting to see how it is for aggro assuming it goes live this way. I should have gotten more details, but IIRC the new augments were 400 something and 600 something points. Log in to test and check it out if you're interested.

Woops the Chaotic Strike aug is 2h only. You could put Ethereal Strike on though, and I would guess even with a -200 hate component, you would still come out ahead on aggro. I heard a rumor that the stun augs disappeared from the vendors altogether today though.

they were still there when i checked them earlier with my test server whore.
doubt they will remain, 3 agro procs on a weapon + a possible clicky proc would be a little too good i think. unless they want to add an anger aug type 9, that would be too good... |

I removed them from the vendors, but the item data on Test isn't up to date. Next item patch to Test will remove them.
I'm going to have to wait until after patch to evaluate whether I want any aggro-type procs on the type 9 slots. Right now I'm a little cautious about the aggro capabilities of this weapon.

3 procs on the 2 handers seems pretty feasible.. maybe make the 3rd slot have a fixed proc rate thats not modified by WA or CE.

I agree, if we can't have it on a 1h, at least allow 2h weapons to have access to type 9 aggro augs. That nice 2h weapon with Chaotic Strike 4 innate proc coupled with a type 4 CS4 aug and a type 9 CS1 aug will have awesome value.
Any chance of a Proc mod aug being made? If we can't get triple proc action on the Barb axe then maybe the next best thing to up aggro is via a proc mod. |

The change and/or "upgrade" that needs to happen to DoN Axe involves the required level IMO ![]() The new augs and stuff could be groovy, but required level 70 for that caliber of weap does not = win

that would be the combateffects +2 augs and yeah paw its pretty lame that these weapons and items are required 70. imo for required 70 gear, now that they can all be "fixed" with hp augs for better stats the AC should get a boost, maybe 5-7 more ac on the legs and definately at least 10 on the breastplate. a casual accessable, luclin-endgame quality bp should not be too much to ask for from the latest expansion. |

Here is an idea to compromise the required level stuff. Cal me crazy, but I think this might just work.
How about this.....lower the req level on the armor itself. Maybe 65 or so, and then leave the required level of 70 on the augs. This way people can have access to the armor prior to 70, but if they want to use the augs to upgrade it to something on par with Ele type gear it will get changed to be Req level 70. I think this would be a great compromise and give another viable gear progression for the non-raider types without giving to much power to the sub 70 crowd. Thoughts on this? |

I think Venkmen's idea has a lot of promise. Could be useful for many weap/gear/aug set-ups, and potentially in areas other than DoN. Hard to suggest specifics until we see exactly what changes go live, but neat idea.
