I *think* the first aggro modifier you can easily get would be the 1.5. You'll want the 1.5 in secondary, and basically that means you'll have to replace both weapons you have now. I've no idea what your resources are, but http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=76880 used to be around, it's attunable and at one time affordable. I'd certainly look for a mainhand with at least that ratio and a CSIV or better proc. The main thing is that you're going to have to replace both weapons and you should look around for ratio + good proc. I think around level 80 stuff like http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=92473 becomes available, and even if you have to upgrade in the bazaar you can get better aggro mod than the 1.5 and upgrade your weapons again. I'd also start tracking your avoidance and shielding. If you have a couple of evenings with a group you could get this: http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=47888 AC is weak, but better than the (once perfectly reasonable) back piece you're wearing. And it has 10 avoid, which is pretty good for your level. I'm out of date with respect to the game, but at one time for someone upgrading armor in the bazaar, this line was pretty good: http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=75710 And these: http://everquest.allakhazam.com/sear...enameled+black I happened to tank for that armor, and for some reason couldn't bring myself to throw it away. When loyalty points came into the game, I un-attuned them and gave them to my SK alt. If you get any, don't destroy them when you upgrade. I'd also take a serious look at the suggestion to research AC augments. You have a lot of empty slots. Used to be these were standard for group warriors: http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=31997 They're not uber but you can get them with a little help and you have so many slots to fill that they'd be worth it. The mob that drops them charms, lol. There's a disc for that. Again, I've not played for a while, and I don't know what your guild/friend resources are, but you have a number of paths for upgrading aggro and AC, and that's what I'd think about doing with respect to gear. These suggestions are either bazaar or easy. |

etc.
Good plan. However currently he's level 74 with 1910AC. Given that I'd suggest (and have) that he acquire Glowing Athlai/Othni. Get the "easy" 75 aug set posted on evilgamer. Glad we agree on Darkened Sword of Ykesha (or alternately Arc of Pain) and two Deep Crust Fire Geodes. While it might not be (anywhere near) the best he's on his way to Epic 1.5 and it does have an EoA style focii. Epic 2.0 is evem better and pretty getable if he has some people that can help him. If he treats 74-75 as if it was a gearing up level (admittedly missing out on Fabled doesn't help) then he won't have 1910AC. I'd imagine he can hit 3400AC+ and that'll be a big help on the way to 80.

I think he'd be able to bang out 80 faster than epic, especially if he's got a crew that can drag him through Anguish. Most of those are a weekend affair, not to mention a couple hours of tradeskilling.

My guilds all over the place on members alot of the time, but being as i just joined i don't expect much. Im gonna use this weekend to try and make some friends, and branch out into the social aspect of the game while i try and improve on the playing/gearing aspect of it as well.
And currently i've got a whopping 15k to spend on items and tradeskills. So limited resources, but ill do my best. |

I'd focus on your primary weapon. Something closer to 1.5 ratio will bump up your killspeed.

He has 1910AC and almost nothing that produces aggro other than Mock and Bazu. My group geared 71 Ranger has absolutely terrible augs and has 2600AC. I could probably have him at 2800AC in a couple of weeks. Raiding 75 Warriors/twinks are around 3500-3900AC. Tanking is survival and aggro (producing DPS too is nice). All the aggro in the world means nothing if you are dead. Being untouchable means nothing if mobs ignore you and play kill teh Weezard. (One interesting thing is that increasing your swing and flurry rate increases both aggro and DPS). That Othni/Athlai stuff be dropping in Unrest right now. OP could be in a group camping it rather than buying it using his limited funds (he'd prolly have to have a Merc tank since he's not up to tanking content that drops what he needs). Maybe it is buy a [aggro] weapon (I suggest the Darkened Yak, but he could get by with a cheaper and more available Ornate Gnoll Hide Lariat). But there's other stuff needed too - Radiant and Ebony crystals for example. There's more than one path through the woods. Kinda have to go where circumstances/opportunity leads you.

While Drenath posted a check list in this forum, a more comprehensive guide can be found at:
T5 Merc http://www.necrotalk.com/showthread.php?t=11446 Unlocking the ability to use Pure Energian orbs Iirc attend a raid that clears Solteris Dragons of Norrath Gift, Tenacity, Fervor, Power, etc. of Norrath's Keepers or Dark Reign. Adds stats and I think buff slots.

Are the AA guides in the arena still valid starting points for AA prioritization as i go through?
I'm almost maxed on CS and CA, just need to start planning for the future on where i'm going with these AA's. Grinding solo all the time makes it slow goings too. |

mostly not I would say... the guides were made when grouping wasn't a pb at those lvl. now that low lvl warriors are mostly soloing or moloing to go through content, the priority is DPS AA then tanking AA, then aggro AA (although a lot of DPS AA are also aggro).
it's only when you are within 20 lvl of the max that you have to slowly consolidate your aggro to reach "enough" aggro/tanking capability within 10 to 5 lvl of the current cap. |

Cimmar, you should post your question in a separate thread.

Id post an updated Magelo link, but i server X-fered and my free auto sync subscription ran out before the transfer, so my old links are dead and have no new ones yet. However....
I was wondering at what point shield specialist overtakes dual wield for DPS, or at what point punishing blade overtakes dual wield for that matter. I have 2 decent 2.5ish ratio weps at lvl 80 now, and the dps is good, just didn't know if the other options were better to speed up my moloin. |
