General question really, but if what the Paladin's are using for agro are stuns, and the SK's are using (among other things) their darkness spells, wouldn't a Kunzar Ku'juch (8 dam 22 dly, procs Engulfing Darkness) and a Gnoll Hide Lariet (3 dam 25 dly procs Stun) be "Uber" (LOL)

Tell me I'm wrong, but at least I asked right?

BTW I'm not using these weapons in liue of better ones, I can't afford better ones yet (yet, yet, yet).

I'm still carrying my Ku'Juch with me -- procs often for me, perfect for duoing with a shaman or cleric. I hate chasing things.

Agro wise, this thing was great through my 40s.

Played with a Gnoll Hide Lariat the other day, as suggested by somebody here... man, things stuck to me well. DPS sucked, but mobs focused on me.

Gnoll Hide Lariat does such poor damage that it is not effective taunt. Kunzar Ku'Juch is a great utility weapon, but the proc doesn't really add that much hate. With weapons in this price category, you should look at BBoT and questing the Praetor's Blade of Debility.

Silken Whip of Ensnaring and Barnacle Covered Axe are other good weapons in that range to look for.

My Ku'Juch 'tried' (not high enough yet) to proc three times in a matter of 6 secs the other night! (one mustve been two procs off of double attack, because they were literally on consecutive lines, then it tried to proc again after one line in between)

I would think just the fact that its a snare would certainly anger the mob... hey, it works for the Rangers...

kunzar ku'juch is fairly decent aggro if your high enough to proc it, but i would lose that whip, 3/25 seems kinda horrible, and if your sig is up to date your lvl DPS still can pull some aggro. A cheap upgrade to the whip might be a good ol fashioned yak. Shouldnt cost anymore than the kunzar ku'juch and the yak proc has a stun component and its 8/24. You can prolly snag one for 100pp or so, and if u played your cards right maybe free, ive given em away before.

also since your a halfling, find yourself a high lvl friend, or a bored warrior who has been LFG for 2 hours, and go get yourself a Praetor's Blade of Debility, the quest starts in sanctus seru, and starts proccing around 36 if i remember right. Its 8/22 and would be a nice match with that ku'juch

also if u pick up a yak, hold on to it, i think its part of the recipe for honed blades but not sure

Im not currently using the whip, I just have one in my pack and was thinking of whipping it out if I needed agro help. LOL, my group would kill me if I went from hitting for 50-70 (Blade of Xalgoz) and went to hitting for 8 or 9!

Yikes!

My furry feet would be fried!

how much you hit for is not always important

perfect example,

for aggro i dual weild a BBoT in primary (9/22) and a BCA offhand (9/21) they hold freaking awesome aggro but as far as dmg goes they dont really compare to the snowchipper and blood point i use for not being a MT, especially in the mid game, ive come to realize that the ratio is not always the best for aggro

Paladin's are using for agro are snares

Paladin's use stuns they don't get snares, rangers use snare for agro.

Kujuch doesn't proc often enough to constitute a lot of agro, I have, use it along with snare whip to make sure I snare, but agro from it is about same as from snare whip.

I switch to other weapons for agro once it is snared. Kujuch also procs a darkness which is a much shorter duration snare/dot than snare from a snare whip (like 1.5 min dark compared to about 9 min snare).

Ouch, at 31 you shouldn't be having much trouble holding agroe :)

Try getting some nice ratio weapons, or if that fails go for maybe a Dolji or <gasps at the dust piled up on it> a Veno Axe

The Lariat is fine for aggro EARLY in your career (and I do mean EARLY ... like right when it starts proccing in your 20s up through your mid 30s tops). After that, it's still an ok aggro weapon if you want to MAKE it work for you (I still keep two in my bag for shits and giggles), but it's DPS lags behind the higher you get in level and it loses its effectiveness.

HOWEVER ... here are the stats so you don't get confused (there are a LOT of whips out there and its easy to confuse the gnoll hide, with say, lightcrawler antennae or something equally horrible)

Gnoll Hide Lariat
MAGIC ITEM
Damage: 3
Delay: 20
Ratio: 6.666 Bad
AC: +3
Weight: 3.0
Weapon Skill: One Hand Slash
Classes: Ranger Bard Rogue Warrior
Races: All Races
Inventory Slot: Either Melee
Can be stored in Medium and larger containers

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Effect: Stun
1: Stun(4.00 sec)

Type: Random

Yeah, it's ass. But as far as ASS weapons go, it's effective.

Who was it that posted saying they'd tanked a ton of high end stuff (AoW, Rumblefkkr et al) using a pair of Gnoll Hide Lariats? I might take a wander down to Paw and pick a pair up. I mean, it's gotta be worth a laugh at least, right....

What's proc rate on 'em? (I'm sure I've asked that before)

There is another weapon with a stun and better stats for a few hundred pp. I don't remember what it was, but when I was searching around, I was considering picking one up.

I was having problems (dual boxing) loosing agro. So I just picked up two BBoT and I have AMAZING agro now (and I picked up 2 for 50pp each : ).

As for the gnoll lariets. It might be GREAT for tanking against casters... but pick up the BBoT's and you wont feel bad.

The Darkness line is not as high aggro as snare from my experience. Shadowknights used to use their low level disease based dots for high aggro, and now use their new pure hate spells to stay at the top. Two gnoll hide lariats is decent aggro, assuming they proc a lot. If they don't proc a lot, then you're stuck using weapons with complete ass ratio. Black Blade of Tormenting is an amazing aggro weapon, but it doesn't proc until 46 iirc. If you can get a higher level friend or two to help, praetor's blade is also good aggro, and simple to get.
