Was thinking about this earlier, and discussing it a bit in one of the in game war channels, and I figured i'd toss it out here and see what you guys thought about it as well...
So for the past 3 xpacks, our BP click has been a hate proc that triggers when we swing. Similar to the way an aggro poison works, minus the DD component, etc. Personally, I feel its COMPLETELY useless . . . I literally never use it. Aggro is quite easy to gain, and maintain, both in group and raid content (especially in raid content) . . . . with the addition of undivided attention, ageless enmity on a fast reuse, projection on a fast reuse, warlords fury adding a monster bonus to said abilities . . . not to mention the other short reuse AAs and discs . . . theres too much to list, and using it all in game on a given mob is frankly overkill.
That being said, I still have my SoD BP, because THAT click, in certain situations, is INCREDIBLY useful (the hate-proc-when-struck buff with 60 or whatever charges). Then I look at underfoot shawl (the rune one), and think, that was a pretty good idea . . . doesnt generate hate obviously, but still a randomized mitigation source.
So what if our current BP click were a combo of the two? A proc-when-struck, charged buff, rune proc of some sort? Could be a vie (percent-based mitigation up to a certain amount of damage like the cleric spells, not to be confused w/ coa bp which is a duration vie) or, even better, a rune-line proc, that COMPLETELY mitigates an incoming hit when its active (similar to the short buff you get when you use shield topple) .. say 60 charges, fires at random when struck, until it expires, completely absorbing one incoming melee or spell hit? Would be too much to ask, i think, if it were to generate AE aggro as some runes do, but never know, paladin CoA BP is pretty badass in that regard (heal proc when struck, monster AE aggro)... But if you think about it . . . shield block basically does nothing (see parses . . it really doesnt do much) . . . this could possibly compensate for that for a set duration (which charges remain on the buff)
Thoughts?
