I am wondering if this new familiar thingy will work--the one that comes with the pre-purchase? I notitced it's available in game now and it's supposed to help increase your chance of not getting hit by detrimental spells. Wasn't DON 5 supposed to do that and isn't that broken? So should we believe this new thing works? Also will pets still override familiars for my necro? I am just debating who to /claim this for...

For effect, i don't know i haven't claimed mine.
as for pets ! ZOMG! =P.
you can have out a pet, click a familiar and get the effect. and have pet out, and you can then further suspend your pet. and have familiar effects. (Which would be good for raids!)

Pets dont last on raids and neither do familiars so there is no point in having them unless you are grouping. Complete waste of plat and RL $$.

correct, that's why if you have them suspended and get the familiar effect with nothing out, is pretty cool. Let me clarify
Step 1. Summon pet
Step 2. Summon familiar (Will get icon/effect but pet will block them from actually appearing)
Step 3. Suspend pet. keep effects, no pets
Step 4. Be Awesome, like Razox! altho she has no pets O.o

Oh I know I do that on my necro cause of lich--I summon the gimpy 5hp heal shroom pet just for the effect. What I was wondering is I thought I saw that they were going to fix that somewhere so you could have the pet and the lil shroom or whatever follow u around. To whit, which toon to get the spell shielding on... I dunno yet, it's 50/50 at this point. I'm leaning necro because we don't allow pets on raids and really, in a group context, how much is that spell shielding gonna help over what's already there with focii...hmmm...

I'm going to claim it on Raz eventually, just to take it to Beza and watch one of those mino's punt themselves back 300 miles.

Familairs don't last because of a bug. However, that may not matter soon. On test server they changed it so that familiars can be dismissed without dismissing the buff.
For the OP: The DoN AA works AFAIK. However, this familiar is a chance to reflect, which is a different mechanism. Last I saw, reflect still works fine.

Ah kewl, ty for clearing that up. Reflect would be pretty nice to have actually... I ran to sky recently for old time's sake, just to look around. Figured I would grab a spiroc wingblade for an MQ while I was there in case any war needed one for 1.0. Forgot about the 80K DT. Would be awesome if that got reflected, I think there just be a grease stain and some feathers floating around LOL!

Has anyone ever successfully reflected a DT? I would like to try it out even with our disc, but if there is no chance of success I would like to know.

that is true silthrix, back in teh day the first DTs were 20k but that is when if you had 8-10k HP you were well above average lol and now days it is to the point hat if you are below 20k (unbuffed) you are behind average lol. So think they uped the damage to keep the name DT alive lol.

Is that all death touches across the board?

I didn't resist it, but I mitigated all of them making it a super easy mob.

There are 2 basic DT's.. Touch of Cazic.. which is what the golems in Fear use.. it goes threw DA, and has been upgraded to be able to kill anyone, except monks who have a way to block it which is clearly a sploit.
And then there is the DT that was used in the Luclin Era.. like on cursed/shei, its blockable with DA, and also its never got upgraded passed 20k, so you can just mitigate/eat it.

Right after SoF came out cazic touch was listed as reflectable and was. I toyed around with shield reflect in Plane of Fear, and it worked if you got the timing just right. However, its been patched to be non-reflectable since then. =(

moreover it probably don't stack with our epic clicky that grantz 20% reflect chance...

Touch of Vinitras isn't a true DT, just a 20k unresistable dd. At the time it was current content, it was for all intents and purpose, a 'DT'.
I believe the only reflectable spells are player castable spells, or at least they used to be. I'd be interested to know if this was no longer the case, and what other spells are reflectable.

I dunno but we have an AA to reflect as well. I wonder if that stacks...
