View Full Version : Dex vs. Con !

Ok, I think the general consensus since the changes to strength is str > all. Correct me here if you feel otherwise.

However I am still torn between con and dex. Being a dwarf, and con coming naturally to us, I opted to throw 4 points in con and str and only 2 in dex, resulting in a shit ton of con. Now the effectiveness of con has been debated, but the way I see it, every little bit counts. Personally I would like to be a little more informed about dex. Here are the 2 things I am really curious about:

-Increased chance to successfully defend with defensive abilities.

What the hell does this mean, can we be any more ambigious? No numbers or specifics leaves leaves me less attracted to the stat.

Does anyone have specifics on this line in dexterity?

-Increased chance to successfully recognize and react to enemy abilities.

Again, what? Last I checked, I cannot react to any abilities, only blocks/parries from myself.

Anyone have details? Does this aspect of dex not apply to us?

Further than these two aspects, I don't see how dex is much more, if at all, more attractive than con. Sure we thrive on crits, but kick and shield bash are close enough to auto-crits for me. So crit chance is not all that appealing.

Parry, an appealing stat that I would actually want to raise. However, the max is very low (like 6% or 8% i think?) and the base is what 4%? In addition, the bonus per dex is pretty insignificant, not making it an incredibly desireable stat.

Constitution is much more straight forward, hps and resistances. Both things I value. Again, the return rate on these is questionable (3.75hp/con at lvl 50?), however, I think every bit of hp helps.

Anyways, I would like to know what you all think, and what you all have put your points into.

I personally use the STR > CON > DEX build and haven't turned back from it. Out of the 3, Dex offers the least amount of usage, in a warrior's standpoint atleast

Apart from ranged weapon damage, the impact of Dexterity is minor.

Constitution, on the other hand, adds HP, and just a few more HP may be all that stand between you and death when a raid mob is about to strike you with its biggest attack.

Personally, I use the same build as Venge: Strength first, then Constitution, and whatever is left into Dexterity.

I use a STR > CON > DEX setup when allocating points to my stats as i prefer CON to DEX

However wat stats are you guys choosing for your crafted gear?

There is:
STR > DEX> VIT or
DEX > CON > STR

Which setup did ppl go for? Some reasons why as well would be nice as I am looking getting my crafted gear in the very near future

I want the STR most out of all stats so i have been leaning towards Veneration (STR > DEX > VIT)

For crafted I go for the STR > DEX > VIT...then add the hp to make up for the proc.

Then again I don't have any crafted on right now, just full itch with flor bracer, rahz helm, lucent earrings, mask of freeodm, lucent earrings or change up.

If they made crafting gear able to do STR > CON > DEX, then help us all. :p

I think I'm going to use the DEX > CON > STR crafted mit bp. All stats I need, just in the wrong order.

full crafted just gives too many stats you won't need, so I don't think you'd want to use more that 2-3 pieces of crafted.

then add the hp to make up for the proc.

What do you mean by this venge?

Like instead of adding any resonating crystals for procs and such, I just go for the most hp as possible.

Sorry i'm not too familiar with crafting, so this may be wrong.

So if you aren't adding any dusts, you don't use the +mit on your crafted armor? Why not?

Well a big problem is that con is still virtually useless...but I tend to run a little low on health in every game I tank in :p

But anyways...personally I go Str > Dex > Wis. Energy Pool FTW! Then yah, like Venge said, I wear a lot of high end crafted gear with health on it to at least keep me in a reasonable area.

+melee mit only goes on head, shoulders, and chest.

+mit all only goes on legs, head, shoulders, and boots.

That leaves quite a few slots left to amp other stats.

Hehe I still go for con. Still need that hp. I'm just over 7500 hp unbuffed, have to find the sweetspot on mit/hp.

Aye. It's been a while since I tried it, but I just felt crippled on my play style last time I ditched wisdom for con =/

Being a Varathari, I get WIS for no reason :p

No way. Humans FTW! 14 points with a maximum of 5 in each stat every level ^^. Customization > all

Humans are dinky. I'm a min/maxer (omg a sin)...then I should've went Orc lol

Dwarves > *

Max con, and free wisdom. Not to mention a kick ass racial. Plus we're short, who doesn't love midget tanks? :)

Tanahlai

I don't like midget tanks.

A) It's just wrong
B) MMO Developers have it in their head that big = epic, so all the high end dungeon and raid mobs always end up being gi-freaking-gantic, and since we're the ones that get to stand toe to toe with them, taller = better! Yay camera angles!

Pfft, well we can still be friends anyways.

I hear you on the camera angle though. I already can't see the tops of things like treants, haha. You tall races still able to see your damage numbers on top of things like this?

Treants I can, aye. There's been a few mobs so far that I can't though. But I'm only a human. Half-giants or whatever cliche race everyone plays probably do better.

I am a Varanjar Warrior and I went CON > STR > DEX all the way.
