Looking to unravel this mystery... We have been attempting to track these mobs for a while now in hopes to find them up and try them out. I do remember tracking them while camping my war ring, so they are trackable.
Are these mobs triggered? I don't need info on the fights, just how to start them. Are we being too slow on the draw and just missing them being up?

you clear the 4 corners of the maze.. and that pops the named in the middle.

There are 4 different events in the maze. You have to beat the current event to spawn another (or lose and have it despawn). Once beaten, the next event respawns in about 10 minutes. There is no particular order in which sequence they can spawn.
The mobs you need to track should be -
Event 1; Royal Guardian, Royal Advisor, Restrained Icemass
Event 2; Freezer, Razor, Dozer, Blazor
Event 3; Fallow, Crusher, The Fleshmess, Haze, Grenrik the Addled
Event 4; An Oblivious Golem

That sounds way more fun than being screwed out of the 35ac aug, yet again. When we heading to FC?

Is this a group (or two groupable) encounter? I could use something to cheer me up and bend my will too (Post Anguish, DODH/DPOB breakin is hurting).

More like 4 group encounters really. While the encounters themselves aren't terribly difficult, they are aggravated by the fast respawning roamers around the maze that you have to constantly keep down, sometimes at the same time as doing the main encounter.

Anyone have any more info on this?
We did an exploratory jaunt in there last night, do you have to have the ice blocks AND the trigger mobs down in order to get to the 2nd event or? Do the trigger mobs all have to die at the same time?
Also, what triggers the doorways to change? Is it random?
Just looking for enough definite info on some of the technicalities of the event so that we can form a strategy.
So far we're thinking to get them all down below where they are in the same room, then kill the golems, then drop each of them at the same time. The mobs don't hit hard. We can definitely do this easily on low numbers nights once we figure out the specifics.

FIrst 2 weeks of TSS coming out(right after the AG nerf). Friend of mine, botting me, did this with 7 or 8 people.
Me(Bot), another Warrior, Cleric, Cleric-bot, Monk-bot, Shadowknight, and maybe a ranger, and an enc did this. He said they had no real problems =/

Which event?
I can see event 2 being done with 7 people; in fact the more you have the harder it is to co-ordinate. 20 people bumbling around the maze getting lost and killed to roamers convinced me it's not worth my time to go back there without people who have a clue.
It's also possible they adjusted the events since that time, specifically the very fast respawn of roamers.

This was event 1.
The issue we had was nearly instant respawn of the event 1 mobs. I was assuming this was like a ring event where you had to have all of the phase 1 mobs down (at the same time) before the phase 2 mobs spawned in the middle.
Is this not a corret assumption?

Sorry, I was replying to Detheb but yes, you need to kill all the corner mobs within a short time of each other to spawn the Restrained Icemass in that event.

We tried event 2 and killed Dozer in the lower right first. By the time we cleared to the upper right guy, the event despawned and the oblivious golem popped.
Couldn't figure out the oblivous golem. Assuming you have to beat him down to some number while takeing care of his adds and the zone adds. We were not up to the challenge though.
Frael

Yes, you have to follow him around and continually dps him. If you stop for a short time, he regens to full. On top of that you need to offtank all the golems he spawns on the way around (or dps them too if you prefer), and the zone adds, which can add up to quite a lot at times.
I'd be extremely skeptical of anyone claiming they could one group this event.

Oblivious golem is the easiest, 3 people can do it. Bring Cleric + Warrior to one of the corners (there's a safe one at bottom left of map). Monk follows the oblivious around and dps's him, pull ONE shard golem to the cleric+warrior, offtank it the ENTIRE time. This stops the main golem from regening, now dps dps dps, follow the golem around, hug walls if you get aggro on shades (they blur themselves if you put the wall between you and the mob). Monk is the ideal class to follow the oblivious around, keeping constant DPS on and FDing when shards spawn (every 5% of boss). The shards despawn after 1 minute or so of being un-aggro. Rogue also works if you use the wall blur trick, the trick doesn't work on shards though since they're so small they just go around the corners. This takes about 2 hours with 3 people so be prepared for a long boring kill.
Grenrik is easily 1 groupable, he casts single target mez randomly on aggro list so use radiant cure to get rid of it. It's required you bring at least 2 radiant curing people in case one of them gets mezzed. Lots of hp and 3 roamers come through.
Ice Age we got to 70% and then ice golems below the maze summoned it... and they zerged ice age and the corpse depopped so I dunno what that was about, but he seems to be the toughest.
Once you kill the event, any of the 4 can respawn within 20 min or less. In 2 days we killed this 13 or 14 times, only saw one aug. Lots of shoulders and cloaks, 2 Necks and 2 Masks.

Cleared to Grenthik, (didnt clear all corners) and he was a Half elf in a cage, and asked for the key. Do you need to kill spawns in all 4 corners to open the cage? Saw no keys drop.

One of the mobs in the corner will drop a key.

Ok so ice age was up Went to the one corner and couldn't touch dozer. We did get hit with a nasty slow upon getting near him. Entering the area with Ice Age got me hit with an effect but I don't recall the name.
We do something wrong? I was told you just kill the corner mobs but dozer was untouchable.
And lag there was insane.
Frael

They need to be killed in a random order.
Tanise
07-10-2007, 06:56 AM
That doesn't make a lot of sense because I had someone go check the other corners and same deal, scowling but not attackable.
Nightmare Stasis
1: Decrease Spell Haste by 50%
2: Decrease Movement by 50%
3: Decrease Attack Speed by 50%
4: Limit: Combat Skills Not Allowed
Is what was hitting people when near the corners.
When I got near ice age go hit with:
Heart of Frost
2: Increase Curse Counter by 9
6: Decrease Cold Resist by 300
Neither were actually cast by the mobs, it was more like the rooms they were in did it.
Frael

One of the corner mobs is always attackable. The rest become attackable in a random order after it is killed.
After they are all killed, the raid can engage Ice Age.

I'll probably be shot for suggesting it but I guess we'll try again and see how it goes.
I assume then that your timer doesn't start till you actually attack or kill the first corner spawn?
Tanise
07-12-2007, 09:30 PM
It would appear you have to drop groups at each corner then kill them all at once.
Frael
07-12-2007, 09:57 PM
Depends what event.
If Restrained Icemass is up, you have to kill the 4 corner mobs (2 Royal Guardians, 2 Royal Advisors) simultaneously.
If Ice Age is up, you have to find which corner mob is active, kill it, then kill the rest as the become active, in a random order.
If Grenrik the Addled is up, any corner mob can drop the key.

Ah kk yeah icemass was up. And unfortunately, since I figured we were on a timer from the first mob I was just plowing thru the maze corner to corner. When we got to the last one and restrained was still up (my understanding was he became the unleashed icemass) I had a rogue go back and check the corpses for a quest item or something and they found the corners back up.
Started moving back dumping groups off at corners and it got ugly near the door to the northern part of the zone. Ended up with 5 in camp and another 3 showed up shortly after.
Finally just called it. On the plus side there was no lag last night. Tss irritates me like that, sometimes you can have a group in an area and it's like wading thru jello, other times it's completely lag free.

Has anyone tried this since the last patch? Went in last night Oblivious was up, began beating on him swapping to the shards or giants as they popped, always keeping some dots + a couple of monks on oblivious.
First time we got him to 60 and he just warped up to 100, still had dps on him but he just poofed to 100. Continued on him but I think the best we got after that was 80 before he'd zoom back to 100. The weird thing was he was getting smaller. At one point he was smaller then a brownie.
When he'd warp back to 100 he'd get larger (not full size) then immediately shrink back down.
I'm wondering if it's just bugged? At no time was dps not on him, nor were the shards ignored. Once I was on him in a straight passage (No corner mem wipe) and i watched him go boom to 100 while i was beating on him.
I was considering the corner idea someone posted about putting a tank and cleric in a corner with a shard and just beat it the entire time while the raid follows him dpsing him and the adds but I'm sure that he did the 100 thing several times through the night.
After about an hour we finally just gave up, seems like it could have been a fun set of events but just too many issue/bugs to deal with.

still having trouble with Ice Age being summoned by other mobs.. we have tried clearing the place it was summoned to previously and it just gets summoned somewhere else. we can beat the other events, but need this one to be able to continue the cycle with success.
would appreciate any assistance.

I've started looking into these events. Had a wander around on my own to get the layout.
Before I drag my guild over, just had one question.
There are two "doors" around the named mob in the middle, do these open when you kill the corner mobs or am I missing something more obvious ?

Depends I think on the layout of the maze at the time. "doors" in the maze change regularly. You can get in the center via 3 sides that I know of n, s, w, never personally entered via the east tho.

Went back, surrounded by ice walls, thought they couldn't be hurt as they were immune to lifetaps and weapon damage didn't hit it.
Tried a different ice wall near the corner with a fire dot and a different weapon and that worked fine.
Though Freezer stun locked me and killed me :(

Do all of these maze events share the same exact loot table?
Thanks~

We had problems with the iceage event as well.
Killed all the corner mobs,
as soon as we engaged iceage he got summoned to another area and killed by other mobs

oblivious golem hasnt changed, you really need to keep one of the shards offtanked the entire time to assure he doesn't regen to 100% instantly, otherwise the shards can spawn in a wall and you may not see them (when they depop he'd go to 100%) if you're doing it with 3-4 people i suggest not pulling a caster shard, when they run oom they'll dispell the tank as their mana regens and it's the lowest mana spell they can cast.
All 4 events have the same loot table, have had every drop listed, drop from grenrik and oblivious. Easy farm for 1-2 groups in DP level gear.

Can you blow the iceage event and let it respawn ?
I.e. if i kill the first corner mob and wait, will it respawn as a different event ?
Marvn
09-18-2007, 12:38 PM
you'd have to get ice age killed to respawn it fast, otherwise the events change every 4 or 6 hours, it's basically 50% chance of being an easy event every 4-6 hours.
