Depends on what you can sell it for, but I don't think the augs are as big for melees as they're if you're a caster (for focus) while the Grandmaster armor is ~EP level (really ~Qvic level but hard to fill the last type 12 aug slot).

That's the way I look at it, too.

Even considering I plan to start raiding in a month or so, it'll be a while before I get to BP/Legs, plus I can put them aside for other upgrades for the moment by having the DoN culturals already going.

I did some research and figured out what I'm looking at as far as prices.

I'm looking at either a Strikethrough, Spell Shield, or DoT Shield base aug with Dodge3. I'm assuming Strikethrough is probably the best option?

This is also under the assumption that the dodge3 is > the returns on an AC aug in the specific slot that I might be able to get otherwise.

the shitier your AC, the better dodge3 focus.
since the more AC you can get the better your tankability is, I would wouldn't replace a 20+AC aug by a dodge3 focus.

Id go with the shielding over strikethrough. dodge 3 is the way to go. Unless youre rich id go farm the rest of the things u need to get to make the aug. Maybe buy the actual aug before its upgraded, but farm the dust or flies whatever it is for that particular aug. I dont think theres any dodge 3 dropped youll find before txevu or tacvi 1 of those 2, i could be wrong but i dont think so.

Spellshield 3 is by far the best choice for the prefix.

Dodge 3 is hard to get even for a high end raiding guild. It is an extra ~10 avoid that stacks with the 100 avoidance cap which isn't all that bad for the space of one aug. Don't expect it to suddenly turn you into a tanking machine, but every bit helps. Also dodge and HP are the only tanking mods that cannot be circumvented. AC can be defeated by high attack, shielding can be defeated by high DB, and avoidance can be defeated by high accuracy (though rarely used) but to this day I don't know of any mob that can negate special defenses (unless you're not facing them of course).
